About Mongolia

About Mongolia

There are many things you need to know about Mongolia before planning your tour, trips and travel to Mongolia.

Mongolia is a country of growing visitor interest, with its unique cultural heritage, landscape, geographical situation and natural ecosystem. Being in a landlocked location between China and Russia and therefore without a marine influence on the weather, the climate of Mongolia can be quite extreme, changing rapidly from hot summer days to freezing winter temperatures.

It is in an ecological transition zone, where the flora and fauna of Siberia meet with the completely different species of the desert and steppes of Central Asia. That’s why we say it’s possible to see camels and wild horses and then reindeer, within one region, maybe even in one day, if you drive real fast.

Mongolia is rich with places of natural beauty in each of it’s respective destinations. And a visit to nomadic people, exploring their lifestyle makes it even more interesting, as they have kept their traditions and nomadic style relatively unchanged from the earliest days.

Here we have tried to give you as much information on your visit in Mongolia as possible, with the further intention of adding to it in the future. Please navigate through our pages to learn more about the popular tour and trips, hikes and treks, destinations of Mongolia, books you might like to read, and even the names of birds in Latin, English and Swedish. We have also provided links that we think will be quite useful for finding more about Mongolia.

The section called Facts is designed to help you with the details of travel to Mongolia, such as how to get here, whether it’s necessary to have a visa, what currency to use etc.

  • Living the mongolian way

Great place to stay and experience mongolian way of living, no tv, wifi, phone. Just nature and great company of the staff and livestocks of mongolia. The toilet is a hole in the ground covered by a shed. It is clean, but can be smelly to those used to city life. Not hot water supply, inform the staff that you like to hot water half an hour earlier so that they can boil it over camel dung 🙂

  • Spend some days in a Ger!This trip was much more than I expected

This trip was much more than I expected. Our horses and guides were absolutely fantastic. They made us feel welcome, well taken care of, safe and secure. The scenery, the horses and our guides were all delightful. The quality of the tents and meals were above what I expected. All of the elements were there -- people, horses, scenery.
