Red Rock Ger Camp is located next to the Red Rock Valley at Ikh Nartiin Chuluu Nature Reserve in Dornogobi (East Gobi). It is our fifth ger camp in our network of small, intimate low impact ger camps around Mongolia. Wildlife research is on-going here since 1997, a partnership between Denver Zoo Foundation and Mongolian Academy of Sciences,

Nomadic Journeys have partnered with the local community to provide a benefit for the natural values of Ikh Nartiin Chuluu, which they have agreed to set aside for conservation and are now carefully implementing responsible tourism. The area is not far off the Trans-Mongolian Railway between Ulaanbaatar and Beijing ,so one may disembark or embark en route, either at Choir (international trains) or Shivee Gobi (a platform in the Gobi steppes serving the coal mining village at nearby Shivee Gobi) for domestic trains.

Your travel choice for Ikh Nartiin Chuluu will assist conservation efforts in the area, and you will experience a rocky upland where there is wildlife such as Aagali swheep (Ovis ammon; around 500), world's largest mountain sheep. There are also some Siberian ibex (capra sibirica) but they are more challenging to see. There is also has a fair sized population of Cinerous Vulture, the largest of Asian vultures, comparable to the more well-known Andean condor. The reserve website is at www.ikhnart.com.
